Questions about converting INTERNAL CDR to EXTERNAL CDR

well it says it can work with "any", i would call the manufacturer and prob call plextor as well to confirm it..

When burning at 16x you use about 2100KB's bandwith, probably slightly higher. I believe USB can do 11 Mbit. 11 Mbit is 1408 KB. I could very well be wrong with my calculations, but I don't believe you can burn at 16x via a USB port. If you look at comercially sold USB extrnal burners, they never go over 4x. I am guessing there is a reason to this 😉

That would work but I don't really see the point. I was looking at the prices of those convertors and they are all around $80-$100 dollars. You would be better off getting one of the IOMEGA external USB drives for around $99

...by the way 4x is the limit for USB

They make fire wire enclosers, and they would handle the 16x AFAIK. But, they are pricey and very few computers have fire wire support, except for crapintoshes.

USB 2.0 is not out yet AFAIK, so I am guessing you would need to wait for that one 😉 Why exactly do you want an external burner?

well - 2.0 is out (not very exclusive yet tho)
cuz an external burner would allow for an sb live platinum in my case...
