I was looking at reviews and thinking about my needs for a new case for my AMD build. I think I pretty much settled on this.

But I was also considering these

I guess I am looking for a case in the 100-140$ CAD range and I was wondering what you guys think about these as I don't have much experience with expensive cases I always bought cheap stuff before.

Also what would be a good aftermarket cooler for AMD cpus?

I was looking at this

But maybe there are better options in the 40$ range?

Thanks for any replies guys.

Regarding CPU cooler.

This is actually a good cooler but the way it sits on the cpu, you should have an exhaust fan on top of the case for max efficiency as it blows hot air toward the top.

My phenom II x2 @ 3.8 idles at 22 C. These temps are in part due to my azza helios case.

Cant you mount it in East/west and not north/south? i realize thats prob a mobo/ram issue but you shouldn't HAVE to have it blowing towards the top

anyway IMO go with the LIAN LI Lancool PC-K62, the Haf is just too ugly IMO

No you cant. I don't know why they did this but that is the only way you can mount it for AM3 socket. If you want to do the normal way AC freezer 64 is the way to go.

This is similar to Freezer pro REV.1 but for AM2/AM3 sockets.

What about the corsair H50 system? It's kind of rich for my blood but it looks really intriguing... Maybe I should just use the stock HSF and save up my money to get something better?

the Cooler Master 212 is really good, esp for <$30. Put the $50 for Corsair H50 towards a new videocard upgrade instead imo. If you are are aiming to keep the amd system for a while (i.e., 6 cores, bulldozer), then a better cooler may be worth it to you. I don't have A/C in my house and therefore the Megahalems was worth it to me since I have no other way to control temps. Otherwise I would have gone with a cheaper solution.

I'll tell you what, swing another $14 and you can get Scythe Mugen 2 for $39: http://www.ncixus.com/products/47758/SCMG-2100/Scythe/

It's a pain to install but it will be within spitting distance of the best air coolers.

+1 Me personally would have opted for this, but it is so tall and massive that it will not fit due my huge side intake fan.

Thanks guys well this setup is going to be for a 6 core system when they are released (next couple of weeks hopefully). Anyways you guys convinced me to go with a good air cooler at least for now. Now all thats left to decide is what chipset MB I want. Going to have to wait for 890FX reviews to make that decision.

Thanks guys. Lancool PC-K62 and scythe mugen 2 it is.

Not sure if they ship to canada, but there's a refurb 690 that I think would be perfect for you...
