Questions about capture and tuner cards

I'm working on finding a tuner card for an HTPC but I'm really overwhelmed by all the different options and limitations that need to be considered. So here are some of the questions I have:

Are there any capture cards that can work with both cable and satellite STBs?

I'm interested in recording HDTV, is it easier to do that with cable or satellite?

How much bandwidth/cpu usage is needed to record HiDef feeds?

Are there any options for transferring recorded content from the STB (cable or satellite) to the PC?
