Questions about (blink) Kazaa

I'm not a stranger to file sharing networks, but I am to Kazaa. I'm trying to do a little research between all of the different networks while I have some free time, and came to wondering when I got to Kazaa - I don't see Kazaa lite anywhere for download. I do recall something about spyware in the full version, etc.

Can someone tell me if the current version still contains said spyware, and if so is the lite version still offered anywhere?

Okay, so aside from the spyware, what's the diff between Kazaa and Kazaa lite? Same company etc?

yea teh same thing. just no adds or spyware

if you'ver already installed kazaa, then it would be a good idea to download lavasoft ad-aware to clear out the ads.

No, I haven't. I was just gathering info at this point, but you're right anyway... I think it's about time I run Ad-Aware again, I haven't in a few months.

Is Kazaa always this slow? 🙁

or Diet Kazaa

Actually, the correct link for Diet Kazaa is at at this site. The site that's linked in the parent message is just trying to get you to install spyware while telling you that it will speed up your connection to the FastTrack network (which is, of course, total BS).

it has been lately, its more of when I first get on though, usually with an average user rating I think you haave to wait a couple hours before you'll get lucky enough to find a good thread, so I end up leaving mine on overnight

Emule is the best for large files and :QGames:Q and other tools for back-ups and you can get like 600 sources going for one file

I downloaded Kazaa lite 2.1.0 (k+++ edition) and it has a bug. The bandwith doesn't change when it finds more users. The original bandwith that it sees for a file is the one it keeps. Kind of annoying.

Well Kazaa is humming along quite nicely now... I'm hitting a few high bandwidth users, but mostly I have a bazillion 1kbps connections.

Be forewarned................if you're after MP3's Kazaa is alright but for game back-ups.most of the files don't work, are infected with virii, and many, many, many are not what they are represented to be. Emule takes forever to DL anything meanwhile everybody and their mother are leeching what you've already gotten DLed and eating your bandwidth up like there's no tomorrow. I have lost total confidence in all these P2P programs.

Oh yeah................there's WinMX........only 102 in queue for the file you want.

Kazaalite 2.1 doesn't allow u to "supercharge" ur user rating to 1000

I use kazaalite 2.0.0.....

No, no, that's the wrong kazaalite! The REAL kazaalite makers are here: kazaalite.nl (edit: notice how they don't have 40 popups / sec , like the opportunist profiteer sites)

Well, despite emule and mldonkey leeching off the overnet network, I still average downloads of about 130% of my uploads with ON. And my upload queue is usually filled. Why are you using emule if you're worried about leeches anyway?

i have another kazaa-related question. i switched from imesh to kazaa lite after i realized they're on the same network and haven't been very happy with the results. it seems like i'm getting about just as good of results, but the speeds are mind-numbingly poor. nothing in kazaa lite has ever transferred faster than 8k, while imesh would get up to 70-80k at times.

i figured maybe it was a problem with our network/router, or there's been an explosion in cable modem usage in the neighborhood, but just last night my roomie was pulling down some things at ~75k on imesh. we haven't tried testing (grabbing the exact same file), but i was wondering if there are any tweaks you can do to get higher bandwidth through kazaa lite. i'd really rather hate to go back to imesh. i think that app is just broken, and i really like kazaa lite's Morpheous-like interface.

My K-Lite setting is permanently 1000 (K-Lite Master) - there's a "cheat" checkbox in the prefs.
