Is there an easy way to convert a signal from a stand alone DVD player to a LCD monitor?
I keep finding DVI to HDMI converters..DVI to RCA converters...but aren't those one way?
If the DVD player has DVI out, you'd be all set. If you have component out, you either need a display with component in, or you would need a component->VGA/DVI transcoder ($$).
You can also get a monitor that has an S-Video input (though it won't look as good), and there are a few (pricey) ones that have component input (like the Dell 2405FPW).
The other option is just to play your DVDs in the computer's DVD drive...
What I want to do is combine TV and computer monitor into one. I heard multipurpose screen lack in quality. I was looking into the Samsung MP series but figured they would be bad quality.
They're no better or worse than any other LCD monitor, but most are built more like LCD TVs (so they have much lower dot pitch, and usually only something like 1280x720 resolution).
