If I have a old Windows 7 key and a new Windows 7 CD that came with a newer key, can I use the old key with the new cd and then the new cd with the new key on a different computer? Or does the CD used need to be the one that key was issued with?

Edit: Wrong forum, ugh.

you can download the windows install file from MS (or at least could, imagine it's only 8 now since that's the latest). key isn't tied to a particular disc.

DigitalRiver links are still up (google them).

Just make sure you get the matching version (eg; Home Premium, Pro, etc). 32 and 64 bit generally doesn't matter IIRC, so if you have 4GB or more of memory, get 64, if you have 2GB or less, get 32, if you have 3GB, flip a coin :)

Yeah I have 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

I usually reformat the hard drive and reinstall Windows at least once a year on my computer to keep it running clean.

I'll give it a try. Thanks.

First enter into BIOS system and go to boot menu in order to choose Boot from the Windows 7 installation CD/DVd. Now just be ready to save the configuration settings you have changed by pressing F10 in your system and exit the BIOS.
Now insert the CD/DVD and proceed with the installation steps provided in the below source. wikihow.com/Install-Windows-7-for-Beginners
