I've got to be installing Win2000 on 20 systems. Big hold up right now is waiting on Microsoft to send me the licences. Supposed to have them by Thursday- but this job needs to be done by Fri Evening!

Can I install using my CD (and code), then change the licence number when I get them on Thursday? If so, whats the best way to go about it?

Yes you can. It's in the registry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

The string is named ProductID

The ProductID is not the CD Key. It might be based on the CD Key, but I don't really know. Windows 2000 does not store the CD Key in the registry. Win9x and ME do, in a value named ProductKey.

Well, I'm an absolute newbie when it comes to 2000. What I'm proposing to do is roughly equivalent to installing the OS using one CD&(COA), then changing the Licence (COA) in the registry in Win9X/ME.

Can itbe done in 2000?
