Hey all,

Planning on doing a moderate upgrade here soon.

I currently have a
Athlon XP 2000
Epox 8RDA+
Radeon 9000Pro
512Mb RAM
2 HDDs
CDRW

...all running (nothing oced) on a 300Watt Enermax PSU

Now, I'm thinking of upgrading this weekend to either a "Barton" 2500 or 2600, and eventually (3-4 weeks) replacing the 9000Pro with a 9800Pro.
I don't plan on O/Cing anything with this rig at all.

Do you think my 300W Enermax PSU would be able to handle the above setup with a 2500/2600 and 9800 Pro in there instead? Thanks all! :)

My old cheap no name brand 300 watt PSU can power up my old AXP 2400+ & 9800NP with simialar HD/CD drive amount. Your Enermax should work fine.

you would prob be alright

it might reboot itself if you have a problem, but i would attribute such a thing to complete system load or situations where you might be doing most or all of the following at the same time: virus scanning, searching for files on both hard drives, burning a cd, playing sounds/graphics, intense cpu/mem/resource usage.
edit: also a barton or P4 will pull a little more juice, especially when overclocked. I had stability issues with 2 of the 3 300watt psu's i tryed on a 1ghz t-bird oc to ~1.33ghz with only a gf2 gts

just give it a try if it don't work just get a new psu of a higher rating

It should be fine. people around here are overkill with their 500000w PSUs.
