Question to anyone with SX-1030 like caes (picture)

Hi. To anyone that has one of these cases: Looks Like This: i'm thinking about getting one of these bad boys. the only problem i have is with the door. i've painted my drives and i don't want them covered up. does the door come off ? and if so does it look stupid ? pictures would be appreciated. thanks. -ALAN

The door comes off very easy by depressing a plastic latch that is at the top of the door. Great cases and alot of room.

The door definitely comes off. It also looks lousy with it off. Other than that, it is indeed an awesome case.

I took my door off too with no problem. I think it looks fine, but it definitely does not look as finished. If you don't need the three more interior drive bays, you could go with an SX800 case.

I have this case and definately recommend it. It has room for lots of fans (2in 2out). The side access door is very convenient for frequent mods, and it locks too. Definate thumbs up! But im not shure about the looks with the front panel off...

The SX800 series is the same exact case without the door (but you can't get it in black) and one or two less drive cages. You could get the SX800 and paint it, but that would be alot of trouble. Or I *think* you could just order that piece from the Antec website. Order the SX800 top front piece, I'm almost sure it will fit on the SX1000. They are identical on the outside just about it. Doh, it would still be white, it would be a lot easier to paint that small piece than the whole case. Just a thought.

I knew I saw a case that looked exactly like the 1080 but didn't have the door. The only problem is I can't find where you order the case on the site, but I only looked for a few minutes. Here's a link to one that looks just like it except for ugly power button but no door. Linky

I don't think you can order the case from them (CompuCase) directly. The only place I know of at the moment that stocks this particular case is directron. Or, if you want the beige version, take a look at newegg.

I work in A computer Store In my town. We carry the SX1030 and the SX1030B. Those cases seem to fly out of my store. I have the SX630 and Love it.
ANTEC CASES RULE!!!!!!

I have the exact opposite problem. I bought a black Cheiftec with the door so it could cover up my beige drives. I'm not done putting it together yet though. I got my fanbus and door fan&grill put on and that's about it. I really love my old Addtronics case but this one is also a great unit.

I just bought a Chenming AE-601B with a window in the side from CoolerGUys.com. It is the same as the Antec 1030 and the Chieftec. I just went with this case because it already had the window put in and I didn't have time to mess with installing a window (4 kids take up a lot of my time🙂 The only thing that you might consider before taking the door off is that you will see the tabs that hold the drives in place (and they are silver). Although you could probably paint those to match the case.
