Ok AMDzone and a few other places say to enable it in the registry after patching "
Note This solution favors performance gains over power savings. Although benchmark performance scores may improve, battery life could be negatively affected. Therefore, this kernel policy change must be enabled in the registry to allow for maximum flexibility."

But the microsoft site http://support.microsoft.com/?id=896256 now says:"Note This solution favors performance gains over power savings. Although benchmark performance scores may improve, battery life could be negatively affected. Accordingly, this kernel policy change may be disabled by a registry key to allow for maximum flexibility.

So the registry changes are to DISABLE the hotfix, correct? So to keep the update I don't need to change the registry?

After reading it, looks like you are correct, the registry entry will disable the performance enhancement..

Actualy, I would use the registry entry anyway, you can set it to 0 to disable, and 1 to enable the enhancement.

Has this been confirmed/tested?

Just to be clear, for the X2 fix we need to:

1. install AMD X2 drivers
2. install MS hotfix
3. perform reg hack as on MS link
4. enable the hotfix by using a value of "1" in the registry

Is that correct, or do we leave it at "0" in the registry as MS describes.

Thanks for clarification!

rise4310,

I agree the instructions are not clear on the MS website. I'll give it a go with reg setting at 1. Thx.
