Question...since we already landed on the moon, why is it so hard to get back there?

If you could get there on a smaller rocket yawl would probably have been back heaps.

I would give anything to see a Saturn V blast off. i cant even imagine how awesome that was to see in person.

red tape and no dollars

Wrong. We quit going long before red tape and shrinking budgets forced that to happen. The moon is DEAD. It is of no geologic or scientific interest whatsoever. We learned all we needed to know and moved on.

what about the dark side of it?

also for those that don't want to buy in that there is any conspiracy type stuff...

those that contest landing on the moon are usually only contesting the first mission that has been widely retelivised.

I have read the stories and don't really know or care one way or the other. It was a different world back then now it really takes a war to generate revenue. The common man doesn't want to pay for any advancement otherwise.

what we really need to do is send our AI to the moon and test it out there. That way if it develops a sense of world domination, Who cares? Congratulations, you just took over the moon!

Numerous reasons.....NASA had a HUGE budget like more than the equivalent of what has been spent on the wars in the middle east. The entire infrastructure was destroyed in the late 1970's (from the launch pad, to the Saturn 5 assembly line, and mission control was radically modified). Everyone who assisted in the last effort is in their 80's and is too old to lend their outdated knowledge. But the biggest reason is that the US populace is too worried about if Paris Hilton / Brittney Spears is wearing underwear, let alone scientific exploration :disgust:. Not to mention the fact that there is no one to race against.

Additionally there are about about as many pro-Moon lobbyists as there are common citizen lobbyists! :Q

That's it. There is no one to race against! We need to bring it into the Olympics. How about London? First to the moon gets gold baby!!!
