Question removed

Question removed, as "obviously" a question about the three primitive programming constructs are not technical enough for some of the uber readers of this section, nor is it a place to ask questions that are school work related. What was I thinking? Excuse me for my ignorance!

Only a *very* amateur programmer here, but:
A. Loops and iteration are pretty much the same
D. For, do, while are all parts of a single loop type(iteration)
C. if and case are both selections

so by process of elimination, i'd say B, since they are 3 separate base programming tools

Indeed, B. Considering that all you need is in that and it doesn't have the redundancy of the other answers it looks the most logical.

Another count for "go through your class note / take class notes" here too, though.

Thanks, your nobilty is documented.

its not nobility...why are you going to school if you arent learning the material on your own? it isnt doing you any good if you are depending on other people.

I would argue that he has learned the answer, and in a far more memorable way than from a text or notes. He will probably remember long after the exam.

By being 'that' guy, you have made it much more memorable than if he had just gotten a straight up answer.

You choose not to help, but help nonetheless.

Guys, I understand where you are coming from. Let me say that I am in my third semester of college working on a bachelors in computer engineering, with the minimum numbers of hours I have taken per semester is 19 credit hours. I have a 4.0 GPA and consider myself a good student. This particular class that this question is from is an overview class that has no textbook. The question I posted was covered in a lab that I was late attending due to SGA meeting. Having no notes or textbook that covered this area, and searching the net, I decided to post the question. This question was one of 60 questions on the quiz, and the only one that I did not know the exact answer. I am sorry if this offended some people, but I feel that forums are a great source of knowledge and decided to draw from that knowledge. Thanks again for your help.

That's all good and well, but this is Highly Technical, not homework help 101.

I had what I considered to be a question that was best asked in this section. I don't understand why such a smarta++ response was needed. Wow, I guess you know everything and never need to ask a question?

edit: and this is in response to you tfinch2

If the mods feel that this thread is without merit, then by all means delete the thread. Thanks again to all who offered input on this topic.

From the sticky:

This is a place to discuss the latest issues and technology in the fields of computer architecture and engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, and other sciences. It is meant as a forum where people who are serious about technology can share ideas and thoughts without concern for product and brand loyalties. We welcome a wide range of technical topics, from "How does a CPU work?" to "Which cache mapping policy offers the best trade-off in terms of hit ratio and access time?"

This forum is not a catch-all for questions that don't fit anywhere else on the site (try OT for that). This is clearly not a Highly Technical question. And there's a general policy of not doing people's school work for them (no matter how good a student they are or how lame the assignment is).

I'm not trying to be insulting or anything (and I doubt tfinch was either), but this is the wrong place to ask this sort of question.

Your smartass response is duly noted.

I'm sorry if I bruised your fragile ego by explaining that your question is not really appropriate for this forum.

No fragile ego here champ. All you have done is further exemplify the general consensus around the net that anandtech has turned into a forum that has little use for anything other than selling hardware. Good job champ, good job.

If that perception of Anandtech prevents people like you from joining, then I fully support it!

Good one, what would this forum be without your wit? Clearly this thread needs to me closed. When I posted:

"If the mods feel that this thread is without merit, then by all means delete the thread. Thanks again to all who offered input on this topic. "

I would have thought that would have been that, but I was mistaken, as some of the wonderful members here would not let it go at that.

Thanks again guys, and please let this thread die, be deleted or whatever needs to happen.
Thanks again to those who helped.

That's a terrible thought. 🙁

And then you post let it go? WTF

Any post past the 12th post is really comical at this point.

if you honestly think having someone give you the answer is the best way to learn, then we are at an impass. working for the answer is the best way to learn, bar none.

cronic, im curious why you took such offense to my statement. i didnt call you an idiot or stupid or anything insulting...all i said is you should figure it out for yourself and that is the truth. you will be better for it in the long run. besides, the answer to your question can be found in the table of contents of just about any programming book just by looking at the titles of the chapters.

Wow, you are something else. I have repeatedly said, drop, deleted the question, stated any post after post 12 are comical, and you DUMBA%%E% still continue to post. I guess you can't read, that?s the only answer that would make sense. I have stated that this class does not have a textbook, nor have I had a programming language class yet. I did spend time looking for the answer, and I realized that their was not a perfect answer from the ones given. So I posted, in hopes of gathering more info and insight. This is my last post on this topic, as their is nothing else to say. I am sure that some of you will have to post again because you simply have to have the last word.

I'm just posting because its funny to see chronic get worked up about this.

Man, why did you ask such a dumb question on the highly technical forum? What college do you go to? Devry?

Lol, just messing with you man.

Hey Chronic, I enjoyed the PM you sent me today. Next time you want to send me a token of your affection why don't you do it on the forum. No need to be shy. There is no need for us to hide our love any longer! Why won't you express your FEEELINGS??!?!!?!?!
<patentman pokes chronic with a...er... stick...man that just sounds wrong>

For the record, at 11:12am today, Chronic wrote the following message to me:

"Why don't you go ****** yourself jackass. Lol, just messing with you man."

Don't mind if I do (go F myself that is...)

LOL, two words man, ANGER MANAGEMENT.
