if u were selling something online, and buyer requests you send item first before you get paid.
how many of you would do it? assuming both buyer and seller has an established rating.
is this a SANE business model?
and if seller suggests completing transaction on ebay, so he can get paid first and buyer gets ebay protection, is this a better way to complete the transaction?

If it was the first time I was selling something online and the buyer was an established trader, I would expect it. That's the price of doing business in the troll-infested waters that is the internet today. In normal trading where both buyer and seller are experienced traders, then it should always be pay first, ship later, but if some newbie is trying to sell me something, I might request he/she ship first before I pay, depending on the value of the item changing hands.

Assuming the buyer had an established trading/purchasing background, whether through ebay or heatware, then this is the way it is done. The more established trader has every right to request you to ship first.

It's the price you pay to sell as a noob.

that is vague, what exactly are both parties references?

and depends on the value of the stuff

i ship stuff to people on the for sale/trade forum first all the time, if they have good heatware
