Question regarding combining internet connections...

I was just wondering if it was possible to "combine" different types of internet connections within one computer/home network. For example, I currently have DSL w/ Verizon (Bell Atlantic) on computer one and have it networked with Intel's Anypoint between two computers. Is is possible to hook up another DSL modem, with a different service provider, on a different phone line to computer two and be able to effectively combine the speeds of both DSL lines ? Finally, is there anyway I can add a 56k dial-up connection to the whole mix ?

Just imaginative thinking, so tell me if I'm off my nut.

I dont think that is possible to do on a home network environment... probably will require some expensive equipment...

To answer your question, I don't think there is any hardware or software to let you combine the two services. In other words I don't think you can combine both to make an individual download go faster.

I'm sure what you're asking can be done. It's just a matter of how much money and time you want to sink into it. I couldn't tell you how to do it, but time and money can solve just about any problem.

My question is about why the heck would you want to do that?

I love it. Multihoming to two ISPs for only two computers.

Agree with the others. You can do this, but you better sell your house to pay for it.

Use the money you spending on a separate DSL line to get a single higher speed service.

I know there's some cisco router that can do both frame relay and DSL at the same time for load balancing.

For download, it's fine. However for upload, you might need to mess with BGB and it might gets out of hands for you.

there's possibly a cicso router that can do 2 dsl line.

Like everyone said, it's expensive. It's hard to find the justification to do what you want.

From what I can tell, the software from midpoint will do at least some of what you want... And there is a download available. Why not give it a try?
