Question regarding a virus...

Booty

Senior member
My roomate got the funlove virus on his computer and we basically didn't catch it in time...it more or less ruined his computer, since it corrupts all .exe, .ocx, and one other extension that I can't remember. Anyway, we want to at least try to save his documents and mp3's before we format and reinstall. Is it safe to put his drive in my computer or will the virus spread to my stuff? Because I REALLY don't want that...can someone help, please?!

I'm NOT familiar with that specific virus and how it propogates, but if you put the drive in your computer as a slave (or master if on another channel), and booted to DOS using a floppy, you could then transfer data between the 2 drives by just copying the data files over.

I would strongly recommend running a virus scanner from the DOS console before rebooting to Windows, however.
