Here's the scenario. You sell an item to a buyer from the FS forums. It's valued at $100. Buyer pays first. You receive the money and quickly ship the item out to the buyer via insured USPS. No tracking is on the item.

What would you do if the seller says he/she never received the item? I want to be as fair as I can be, however, I am very hesitant and reluctant to refund the money to the buyer.

Anyone been in a similar situation? What would you do if you were the seller?

You, as the seller, have the responsibility for getting the item to the buyer. If you can't prove delivery, and the buyer claims it never arrived, you have to replace or refund. You insured it so you refund the money and get your settlement from the USPS.

you insured it but didnt get the $0.60 delivery confirmation?

The ball is in your court until the item arrives.

I'd consider it a $100 lesson to use a tracking number next time. But something tells me you already know this and are just looking for us to tell you to keep the money because thats what you want to hear.

Insurance packages must be signed for.

If the package was claimed to not be received, file an insurance claim.

Now if you lost the insurance number; then you are SOL - refund the $$.
