Question: Parking ticket?

What happens when you don't pay it?
Does anything happen since it's just a parking ticket?
Does it go on your driving record?

I had one from November that I left in the back of my truck for months. Nothing happened.
I figured it would be better to err on the side of caution next time I parked in brentwood so I decided to suck it up and pay the $40.
The ticket was faded, crumpled, and almost unreadable from water spots, but I sent it anyway with a check. They still took it.

BTW - Parking violations will never go on your permanent record.
They can, however, impound your car if you get cited in the same city again and have unpaid tickets.

Actually, one of my friends told me that in his hometown (~40 miles away from here), three police cars come while he was at a gas station, arrested him and took him to the police station because of A SINGLE PARKING TICKET. I was more curious what would happen if "I forgot to pay", that's all 😉

In CA, it will hold up registration if you don't pay them.

More liberal in CA I guess.
They just have a "Payment must be received by:" date on the ticket.
If you don't pay by then, you receive monthly notices that your ticket is compounding to absurd rates the longer you wait.
However, it's been my experience that if you pay the amount of the original ticket, no matter how late, they'll leave you alone.

The John Denver boot.
You can still drive your car but the boot will play John Denver songs at really loud levels until you pay your ticket(s). 🙂

what if u didnt check your car for a couple hours...there wouldnt be much of a car left...the locals would def. dismantle the entire car if they had to in order to get rid of the boot
