Question on Win XP and formatting FAT32

Hi,

I just got a new 120GB WD HD and I used my win XP CD to format/install the drive. I did 2 partitions: 1 30gb, and 1 90gb. FAT32 and XP were installed on the 30gb and when I tried to format the 90gb, it would only let me do NTFS.

Question 1:

Is there a way for me to format the 90gb partition to FAT32 through win XP? I know I could use a win98 boot up disk and do the format through there, but I can't find one.

Question 2:

Where can I find a win 98 boot up disk? Does someone have the files for a win 98 boot up disk they can send me or direct me to?

1: no,you can only have 32GB limit with XP CD in FAT32 mode,you`ll need to make more partitions(of 32GB size) or use a 98 disk to make a FAT32 size if you want a bigger size then the 32GB limit in XP,or buy Partition Magic 8 that will also do it.

Just wondering....how come you want FAT32 instead of NTFS?

Are you going to be dual booting with an OS that cannot use NTFS?

If sharing accross a network, 98 machines can read NTFS shares.

honestly, I've just been using FAT32 all the time, so I guess I'm just partial to it. Maybe I'll use NTFS next time I format, heard it was supposed to be slightly faster. I found a bootdisk at that site Mem gave me, thanks.

FAT is also very fragile, it's not difficult to lose a lot of data. NTFS is a lot more resiliant.

MS doesn't let you format partitions >32G with FAT because they want you to move away from it, it's deprecated and needs to die.
