Question on why dvd's are so cheap at Flea Markets/Swap meets ??

I was at a huge flea market yesterday & came across this booth selling "NEW" dvd's for $10. each or 3 for $27.
They are set up there every week & have a store that they also run .

Just wondering how they can make any money doing this . Titles included for example were ............ What Lies Beneath , Disney's Peter Pan , Unforgiven , The Net , Miss Congeniality & 100's of other titles which would run you $15. - $20.+ if purchased at Best Buy , Wal-Mart etc.

These were new/sealed , not used & not copies .
My girlfriend & I bought 9 because they were such a good deal . I've been buying dvd's for around $10. off the internet but not anymore **LOL**

Do they purchase in bulk or what ? ......................

Where are these flea markets?

I'm in the Boston area..... the best price I get is about $15 on deepdiscountdvd.com AND i have to wait like 10 days before receiving the damn things

yep, i have been to flea markets like this. I bought the Saving Silverman(it sucked) DVD for $6 brand spanking new!!

Thier not pirated dvd's .

The Flea Market is in Florida & it's called "Websters Flea Market" & it's Open on Monday's . It's one of the largest in Central FL ................. It's HUGE !
I'm sure they're on the internet somewhere .

They're not bootlegs, are they? That's big business in singapore/china/asian countries. I regularly see the entire James Bond collection on Ebay for $100 (a steal considering that each individual offical DVD collection of 7 movies is that much), but they're bootlegs ("Has chinese subtitles which can be switched off"). $10 a movie for bootlegs sounds about right. I remember seeing something on Dateline about bootleg CDs being very popular at flea markets, so I imagien the same would hold true for DVDs.

Although you can't get the most recent movies, you can get many DVDs for around $10 each through columbia house. Check out the DVD Talk.com forums for info

they are not bootlegs, tehy are real DVDs. I'm almost positive they are stolen, though. I got teh Godfather Trilogy for $65 on DVD 😛

You probably wouldnt know theyre bootlegs unless you looked really close. I had a copy of aliens that I swore was a real DVD (after all it is just a digital copy), but there were a few non-working special features. So I tried to rip it and it wasnt even encrypted!

Buying bootleg DVDs isnt like buying bootleg tapes. Its a perfect copy. Now if I could only find LOTR on DVD with DD 5.1....
