Question on SERO plan

So I know the sprint SERO plan has been removed as an option to sign up for. I was a lucky one who got in when it was available. I still have a year left with my contract ($30/month 500 minutes, free nights + weekends, unlimited data, unlimited text).

After the year up, could I renew it? Or is it dead dead? If I can renew it, can I get a phone credit to get a new one?

You won't be in contract anymore, so you have no obligations to continue, but still pay monthly until you decide to quit. My friend is doing that right now.

I was able to renew it and get a new phone, even though it had been discontinued. At least, that's the way it was explained to me.

Even if you can't get a new phone from the contract, you can of course buy a phone and activate it on your plan. Or get a new plan, swap phones, and sell your old phone on the new plan. Either way, don't let your contract lapse, because SERO is awesome and if you aren't using it, you should sell it to someone who will.
