Question on refresh rate.

Hi all,
My system is an Athlon XP 1600 +, Geforce 2 64 mb DDR video card, 17" Viewsonic Monitor and running Win XP. I have my resolution set to 1024 x 768 and 32 bit color.
My wife says she sees flickering on my screen compared to her notebook and bothers her whenever she uses my pc. Is this a refresh rate issue? How can I reduce this flicker.
Btw I don't see this at all. I think her eyes are more sensitive than mine???
Tia for any info.

First check the specs. on your monitor to see what the max. refresh rate is for it. To change the refresh rate,
1) Right Click on Desktop, select properties,
2) Go to the "Settings" tab on the new window.
3) On bottom right, select "Advanced".
4) Select "Monitor" tab.
5) In Monitor Settings you can change the refresh rate there.

Not really recommeded to go past the spec limit of the monitor.

It's the refresh rate.
The default on my Radeon is 60Hz I bumped it up to 85.
Check control panel->display->settings->advanced. It's in there somewhere.

Thanks guys. It was set to 60 Hz. I set it to 85 Hz and now it's fine. It's the max though for my monitor.

Yeah, one time after reinstalling windows I was getting a headache looking at the monitor, checked the refresh rate and was at 60 Hz, bumped up to 85 Hz and all is well.
