skulltrail will be dead even before it comes out, just like FANS8. who is going to spend 3000 dollars on a pair of socket 771 CPUs?

and for what? for gaming? hardly any games make good use of quads, never mind eight cores

for encoding and folding? why wait then, get a dual clovertown platform today.

Except games now are starting to take advantage of multithreading, like Supreme Commander and Crysis just to name two.

I've yet to see Crysis pass 35% usage on my quad core. The only real multi threaded engine I have seen so far is the UT3 engine, thats it.

because at best with pin mod, the 771 on a i5300 chipsets will do 3.0 ghz was it? or 3.2ghz.

if i can get a pair of 771's to oc at 400fsbx9 @ 3.6ghz id rather have octo cores then have a quadcore 4ghz+.

and yeah i WCG. And i was very very close into aquiring a dual clover rig. But i want to see skulltrail b4 i decide which way i go.

You should of seen me when i found out about sasoman xeons. Oh man... im still holding my breath for a sammy rig. Just scared at the final cost for my skulltrail rig, so i need to hold off on all my budget. :X

most 771 boards have clockgen. No need to pinmod.

Yoxxy also this is the main reason.

Quote at Intel:

Intel has not licensed SLI technology from NVIDIA. Intel purchased NVIDIA nForce 100 MCPs to enable support for SLI.

Skulltrail is the only Intel motherboard which will feature NVIDIA SLI support. Intel is not using the NVIDIA nForce 100 MCP on any other chipsets, including X38.

i really hate NVIDIA chipsets on intel platforms also. And i want to make use of its 4 x PCI-E
