Question on PSU.

OK the Neo offers more on the 12V rails then the TPII. Also a 4670 requires less power then the 3870 does.

Unfortunatly both of the above answers are wrong. The PSU in question is only able to upput about 22A on the 12V rails. Now a better quality PSU at about the 450W range would be a better option. Your system will need about 26A or better from the 12V rails which the TPII can't offer. If you happen to run the system with the PSU it may work for a while but it won't be long before the PSU gives out on you. So i suggest getting a nice 450W or better PSU. Heck even Antec's 380W Earthwatts PSU offers more power then the TPII and will support the system.

Bottom line is a new system deserves a new PSU. Things have changed. Systems require more power from teh 12V rails and new PSUs are dedicating more of the power to the 12V rails.

Thanks, but I own that PSU. What best video card I can put on it. Will 9600GT/ HD4830/ HD4850 fit on it?
 
Where are you guys getting the information the 430W TPII only outputs 22A on the 12V rails? I don't see that listed in the specs the OP linked to, and a screenshot of the PSU itself states that it has a combined max load of 31A on the 12V rails http://tinyurl.com/6xdkf7, which should be able to handle an HD3870. A quick search did reveal to me that the first version of the TP 430W only outputs 20A on a single 12V rail.

The HD3870 doesn't need much power. The HD4800 series needs more power, and the 9600GT uses a little bit less. You might as well get an HD4670, as it uses the least amount of power and is only a tad slower than an HD3870. Oh and start saving some money for a newer, more efficient power supply, because the TPII 430W isn't very eco-friendly compared to new units.

A) As far as I'm concerned, your PSU will run a HD4850 just fine, or a 9800gt.

B) Thrashing a PSU and buying a new PSU is far more eco unfriendly.

Uh, that's why you don't thrash it. You keep it as spare part or for use in another computer. Hell, resell it to someone who can use it. To clarify my point: If this computer is going to be used heavily, then reduce some carbon emissions and grab a more efficient power supply. Every little bit of savings adds up from the millions of people across the world who might be doing the same thing.
