Question on processor mounting/cleaning

SO my socket 939 3500+ 90nm AMD started to overheat while I was formatting my hardrive. The good folks here on this forum thought it might be my heatsink was not mounted properly. I took off the chip from the heatsink and managed to drop it on my case (I know I am a dumbass). So I use a credit card and a knife to bend the copper prongs that got bent back into position so it can fit back in the socket. Luckily none of the bent ones broke. It can fit in the socket again. Do the copper prongs need to be cleaned in any way?? I *might* have gotten some of the shin etsu thermal paste on the underside. Do the copper prongs need to be spotless?? Will the processor function ok?? I am discarding the POS thermaltake hs/fan and mounting an xp-90 and 92mm panaflo tomorrow.

I would gently apply some 70% isopropyl alcohol around the pins. Wash off the residue, and let dry at least 30 minutes. Sometimes, I even place the cpu around the heat vent on the ceiling or floor for a few seconds. Just be patient, and don't use too much thermal paste. I use 2 or 3 tiny dabs on the heatspreader, and spread with a single edge razor blade.

hi o1die idea will work! my son read that artic silver would lower temps down better, so in the process of installing his cpu bump somthing and dropped the cpu on the socket and silver got into pin holes. i work in the automotive industry and see alot of electrical problems. napa autoparts has a can of electrical connector cleaner for about 6 or so bucks. i used this and regulated air to spray and blow clean did this few tims installed and works fine. so hope this helps good luck and peace.
