Question on possible nexus 4 quirk

To preface: I am going to keep my phone as the experience even with the "quirk" is astonishing. I was also able to reach Google device support and they were awesome - outside of scarcity... Challenges, I can easily replace my device. 20 out of 10 stars for the experience.

But

Starting on... What I think was Thursday morning when I try to swipe down for my notifications when my finger gets to about halfway down the screen, the bar "unattaches" and pops back up to the top. Also, when I am scrolling down a website(say, in chrome,) when my finger passes the same point.... Its like the scrolling hesitates and then catches again.

Is this a software issue or a hardware one? Have any of you other wonderful nexus 4 owners experienced this problem? I tried a factory reset but the "quirk" remains - but I also noticed that the operating system version remained the same.... I.e. if it were some problem with the software update or with the firmware update, it would have remained.

I dunno, I am going to give it 2 or three weeks for some further updating and if the problem remains I will replace the device.

If I swipe rapidly from the top of the screen downwards or from the bottom upwards the notifications are fine. The pop back occurs from a slower swiping motion while passing the point or line in question.

Mine does not do that. I even switched back to stock launcher and still doesn't happen. I would guess it's a hardware issue. unless..

Do you have any type of screen protector?

No. Nice thought though. I have a completely clear case(so I can see the beautiful design on the back) and I considered that it was interfering with the screen, but alas, it does not. I am probably wrong, as I do not really have evidence to the contrary, but I am still thinking that this is a software issue. I am probably just in denial about/in being one in a million with a defective phone...
