Question on Nimda

I got hit hard today by Nimda. My question is...all my directories on my E drive have a file called *****.eml. Were these files that were renamed or were they added by the virus?

Can't be sure from your brief message but I believe I heard it inherits directories with .eml files which it makes sense that they are probably infected.

Take a look on the Symantec site to see what the say. All the big viruses have good sections on how to rid them and what happens, etc... their site is very helpful!

I am pretty sure that those .eml files are bogus and created by the virus, rather than tainted files. A coworker got hit by it and didn't know what the files were or that he had a virus. When he tried opening them, they were empty, except for the date, despite being around 78K in size. At Symantec's site you can download a Nimda removal tool. The link for the download is about halfway down the page. Good luck
