Question on GPU binning.

I purchased a GTX 560 Ti last week (I know it's last gen, but it was only $145-$20 rebate), it's the Asus DCU II, but not the top, which has a much greater OC (900 vs 830). Is the card I ordered just crappy and not able to obtain a stable OC at higher clocks, so they just give it an 8 mhz OC and only use the better chips for the higher OC? Or is GPU binning not a significant factor and they just do this so they can target different price brackets? I want to OC my chip to 1000mhz, so I'm hoping it's decent.
 
Binning also happens as TDP. If the chip uses more power at a the higher clock that the card is rated for. Then you dont use the chip for that card.
 
Luck of the draw, some are exception, most are only average, and many are crap. What voltage did you run the card at and did you check the vrm temps during testing?
 
You never know, you might be lucky and have a cheap overcolckable chip. not sure how realistic 1GHz is on them though, what clocks have others got the 560TI to?

The Asus TOP binning does not test every single chip. If one chip in a batch does not meet the TOP standards, the entire batch is removed. This means your chip could likely work at TOP settings, perhaps not quite as cool or quiet as the corresponding TOP chip, but it will probably work at least at the 900 MHZ TOP standard. Beyond that is up to how lucky you are with your chip. Increase it in smallish increments and see where it starts to error out then back it down just a tad. Also watch the temperatures of the card to make sure it does not overheat.
