Question on crime scene evidence and it's future

I am watching an episode of First 48 where they think that the victim was murdered in a truck. The truck was owned by the dead man, it was repo'd after he died (body was not found for awhile). They had a hunch that the murder occurred there, so they got a warrant (subpeona?) to get the truck which was located at a dealer; I assume that the dealership bought the truck at auction. Blood was found in the truck and they cut the heck out of the upholstery.

So my question- what happens to the dealer that probably paid money for the truck? Insurance? They were cutting up the seats, roof, carpet, etc.
 
Kinda like when my brother was stopped in Alabama while driving a rental car for work. He consented to a search. During the search the officers uninstalled every seat from his car and left them on the grass beside the car. My brother had to install the car seats before he was able to leave the scene.

So I'm guessing the new car owner was sol.

Moral of the story: do not consent to searches.
 
Chances are they are screwed over. Kinda like how cops can shoot at a truck with people in it and say "sorry" then move on like it's no big deal.

And then pay them 4.2 million dollars. Well, the city has to pay but the cops should foot their share.

Authorities don't ask you things, they tell you things. Whether you like it or not, they're going to do it.

If they have a warrant, then you aren't consenting. If they don't have a warrant, such as in a random traffic stop, then they can't do jack shit.
