question on cell phone services

I'm currently have T-mobile and my contract with them just ran out. I plan to switch over to Cingular and keep my old cell numbers. My question is, do I have to call T-mobile to cancel my service first or Cingular will do it for me? Another question is, where is the best place to buy phone and get the best deal? thx.

You ask Cingular to bring your number from TMO. Once TMO "sends" the number your account is automatically canceled with them.

Such was the case at least when I switched from Sprint to TMO.

Good luck with Cingular. It's downgrade IMO, but to each his own.

ouch on the downgrade. I just want some free new phones. My wife's phone refuses to go into standby mode so it loses charges like crazy. Another reason I want to switch is because the building I work in block t-mobile signal. Walk out the building and it will works just fine. I think the building does have an antenna for Cingular because some people are able to receive outside calls. What you think of Verizon or Nextel? Sprint is out of the question because our house is a dead zone for Sprint.

i personally would go with any carrier before i go nextel. I had verizon and had the usual problems everybody encounters with every service. Go verizon if nextel is your only other option. nextel is part of sprint btw so i would assume if u cant get a signal for sprint at your house you wont get one for nextel either

I've been very happy with Verizon. Their plans are not as good but I love their network.

nearly every cell provider would be happy to provide you with a free new phone simply for extending your service contract for another year or two. you'd be stuck in another contract anyway if you change providers. since t-mobile is definetely preferable to cingular, i have no idea why you are considering the change.

most providers, if not all, give you a month to cancel with no etf involved. go here to check out providers.
