Question on ac3 and 1.6a heatsink ??

I just got a pretested retail 1.6a (2400@default 1.5v ) and I am about to apply artic silver
to the 1.6a and heatsink, but i have a question.

The retail heatsink has a silver pad on it, do you remove the silver pad and put the
artic silver on the heat sink or leave the silver pad on the heatsink and put the artic
sliver on the pad.

thanks for the help

Search function is teh work.

Anyway, Remove the silver pad and the sticky adhesive underneath it. In other words, remove everything from the bottom of the heatsink surface. Use 90%+ isopropyl alchohol to aid in your adventures. Don't use oil based cleaners (ie lighter fluid). Don't heat the heatsink and try rubbing the black stuff (paraffin wax) off because it'll go further in to the metal.

Only then apply AS3 to the heatsink and then rub off and then apply to the heatspreader on the P4 chip.
