question on 2 cpus

I am trying to install 2 cpus as service. the first on is in directory \stcli the second is in directory \stcli2

the registry entries for both look exactly the same and the directories look the same, but the second one wont start. this is the error it gives me. The exe files are named stcli.exe and stcli2.exe. the service names are stcli and stcli2 and both show up in services under administrative tools. Oh. here is the error.

The stcli2 service is starting.
The stcli2 service could not be started.

The service did not report an error.

I haven't done it that way, on my duallie I run seti driver as a service --> seti driver runs the cli

I agree with the other two - why not just download this client - "setiathome-3.03.i386-winnt-cmdline", then download "SETI Driver", open SETI Driver and set the maximum processes to 2? That's exactly how I have my dualies running as well. Is there some sort of issue/problem that you're having with SETI Driver that we could help you fix? Sorry I can't help with your original question...

If it makes you feel any better, I don't use SetiDriver.. however, I'm not running the clients as services either so that doesn't help you. On the plus side, I do have to set one up this week, so if I get it running, I'll let you know. 🙂

This concerns the FlexInstall, were looking at the situation with the service install and an anomoly.

I am working on the GUI installer and it needs to be able to do this. I will look at seti driver, but I would just as soon get this working before I do.

Good luck to you then. Personally, I've never seen anyone use the GUI version with SETI Driver, but if it works, I'd like to know. It'd be a good recruiting tool to get more members interested in watching the screen saver. I know it hooked me at first... Oooooh! Pretty colors! 😉

no no no. not the seti GUI!!! We are making a automated GUI service installer. It automates installing as a service and allows you to install a whole subnet at a time from one machine. click click click and you are done.

Sweet! I've got a Dually myself.. I'm also running SetiDriver with two clients.
If you get this program to work, please let us/me know!
Good luck..

bot - is there any way to encorporate Firedaemon into your installer? There is an option as part of the Firedaemon service configuration, where it lets you assign the service to a specific CPU (plus assign a priority to the service).

Try using the -cpu 1 and -cpu 2 switches in the reg entry. It should be slightly faster too since each CLI will be stuck to a processor.

Oh, I forgot about this thread. The issue was resolved the current Flexi installer does two cpus on the local box. It will have 2 cpus across the LAN on the next release.
