All have these parts....
2 GB Ram
320 GB Seagate 7200 Rpm
----------------------------------------------------------------------
AMD 3800+ procesor - 6800 ultra OR a X800 Pro

P4 3.4 GHZ - 6800 ultra OR a X850 XT PE

So those are my choices right there. Should i pick the AMD with what video card OR the P4 With what video card?

Its a hard choice for me since i want the best gameiung experiance

There are several games where even A64 3800+ and 6800Ultra wont be enough to offset the advantage that X850XT PE has (even with P4 3.4). Also P4 isnt as bad at gaming as many ppl on these forums claim it is. Still 6800Ultra supports HDR and is faster at games with stencil shadows like Doom 3 and Chronicles of Riddick. I'd go with A64 3800+ because A64 is also faster for office applications and supports 64-bit making it more long-term (also S939 is upgradable while 915/925xe is questionable for long-term).

See if you can get an Nforce 4 Asus SLI board and later drop another 6800Ultra in there.

Better answer => without being biased, just check this review HERE

Their test system includes A64 4000+ and 6800Ultra.
The P4 system includes 3.6ghz + X850 XT PE

Since 3.6 is 200 points faster than 3.4 and 4000+ is 200 points faster than 3800+ u are considering, this review is a PERFECT comparison where you can check specific games you like to see which system is better overall for your needs.

Even the 9600 pro supports HDR... what's your point?

I would take the 3800+ and the 6800 Ultra.

AMD freakin rules, no use in getting the P4. I wouldn't sacrifice a 3800+ just so I could get X850 XTPE instead of a 6800 Ultra.

Cause a 3800 is a lot more valuable than a 3.4GHz, but a X850 isn't a lot more valuable than the 6800.

I was under impression ATI cards could not do High Dynamic Range lighting?

The key is floating point blending, which at this point is exclusive to the GF6 series. The reason is that FP blending allows for transparencies with HDR, or at least makes them much easier to implement and faster to render. As most games use transparencies aplenty, FP blending would appear to be key for HDR implementations.

Either way, I'd go with the A64. As to which GPU you want, there are more than enough benchmarks to compare a 6800U with a X850 at Anandtech and elsewhere. RS' link is a good starting point.
