Question I've always pondered: Is it just me, or are toasters wildly inconsistent?

I love toast; it's yummy. I have it for breakfast almost every single morning. Yet every toaster I use keeps on disappointing me.

I keep my setting for how dark I like it the same all the time, yet every single time I toast some bread, the darkness is different. It's as if the toaster is ignoring the setting and just decides to pop the bread out. One day, I get black, burnt toast, the next day, I have to put the bread back in for another minute because it's too light.

uhh... am I alone on this?

Well my toaster is odd- it is a 4 slice one, but the 2 sides are very different. If I set the setting knobs exactly the same, the one on the left comes out perfect but the right one comes out burnt. So when I use the right 2 holes, I have to turn the knob back, in relation to where the left knob is.

Not every single piece of toast has the same density/thickness so that could affect it. Oh and your toaster could just suck too ;)

I guess u are - maybe stop buying $5 toasters and u'll have better luck with ur toast.

I got
this one it's awesome u can even make sandwiches in it and those are much better than those mess producing sandwich makers....

Well geez, that's probably a big factor right there. I live in Houston, or in other words, Sauna City. :(

My cheap toaster is inconsistent looking at the first two vs the second two slices of bread. Roger hit the nail on the head.

i wouldn't use the term 'wildly' but yes, most toasters i have used have been inconsistent.
