Yeah, my brother thinks Bose is God or something...

I was at Fry's the other day looking at home theater speakers, and this guy tried to sell me some Bose satellites even after I told him I was looking at the Klipsch speakers. He turned them on, and was really trying to convince me to get them... they sounded like complete shit. After the guy was done giving me the run-around, I turned to him, looked him straight in the eyes, said "No highs, no lows, must be a Bose. No thanks.", smiled, and walked away.

You said that? Like in public? Wow.

GREAT! Thats what I was looking for! Just something like a small comment that means a lot and can help win an arguement. No I didn't steal them, got them when I friend didn't want them so I was like "hey, sure why not". BTW What do you guys think of a combination of $400 polk audio speakers and $300-400 sony reciever? IMO I think it sounds better, but would like to see the advice of what you guys think. Unfortunately I've never been lucky enough to hear klipsch speakers with a *really good reciever..

Guys think CD audio sounds better on a klipsch system then a bose? (Seems like CD audio is quite limited).

You have some kind of wierd inferiority complex that compels you to force your opinions on others, especially on how they should spend their money.

Thing is, I already know bose sucks. You asked WHY does it suck, kinda different. Did you learn your lesson?

read the thread. there are plenty of facts and comprable systems mentioned.

you asked, "How do you convince people bose sucks?"

well, you do it with facts.

To be honest, there IS a situation where Bose is best - Bose systems perform EXTREMELY well in spaces not suited for a sound system at all. Concrete rooms and Volkswagens, for example.

Jail cells and dumpsters?

i tell them some kid from an online forum who thinks homosexuality should be a form of disability thinks they are bad speakers, therefore they should not waste their money.

I think you should listen to me because I have two bose sound systems at home that I regretfully bought. No one believes me when I say it sucks but it would be nice if I could convince them. They think it's the sh!t when it's not and they are actually really crappy.

Anyone else notice the pronoun doesn't agree with "two bose sound systems"? Wouldn't he have said "they"?
Or in his haste to hit 2000 meaningless posts in less than 5 months, he was making up stuff so fast that he goofed?

well I wouldn't say that I "bought" the second one, but I did buy the first one. I "recieved" the second one before I knew about how crappy bose is, it's quite disappointing really. If you had to explain to some one why bose sucks, what would you say?

Well, then that's a rather odd opinion. Did it sound good to you for a few days/months or however long it was before you decided it sucked? Did you receive the 2nd one 10 seconds after purchasing the 1st one? Or did you just not use the first system until you received the 2nd system?

🙂 All the other people that get picked on at ATOT are gone... just trying to fill a void 🙂

i have a bose system downstairs . . .

BOSE = fellow indian 😀

but the quality is really good, and for the whole system, i paid only about $100 more than i would have with a panasonic or toshiba system

plus i saved a lot by installing myself (went under the house and installed wires, you can only see the speakers 🙂

No acutally I didn't (like others) have any idea that it was crap because it was the only one I heard. I "recieved" the sound system before I heard about thier lack of quality. I was quite embarrassed about my initial purchase. I did find it odd that there were TONS of bose wave radio ads on paid programming. I mean I've heard really good sound but the last time I had heard it and the time I got the bose, it was too far apart. I was disappointed but it's like, if you recieved a bose sound system, would you have taken it too?

Audiophiles have a saying that goes "No highs, no lows, it must be Bose."

I fell into the Bose trap as they offer them at nearly every base Px, at a discount from what you will find in most electronics stores.

So with one of my first paychecks, I purchased a Lifestyle 25...a year later I purchased a pair of 901s.

While I still have both systems, I hate them both...the Lifestyle 25 is unsuitable for music because the bass just doesn't sound all that great...as for movies, the center channel, which is where most of the dialogue for a movie is sent, gets drowned out by the other speakers such that I either have to watch movies at a very low volume with the bass and treble turned off...or incredibly loud...just to hear the movie dialogue.

As for the 901s...put in a classical music or acoustic CD and they sound amazing...almost concert hall just as advertised...but put in anything else...I listen mostly to rock...and it sounds like crap...drums come out sounding a bit tin-ish...the bass just sounds like rumbling, and like the Lifestyle 25s, you lose the lyrics in all the noise.

I have been hanging out on several audiophile boards for the last few years...the setup I am saving up for when my Bose system dies (might as well get my money's worth) is an Axiom system:

I have actually heard these speakers, and they blow away anything you can find in Circuit City, Best Buy or other commercial electronics stores.
