Carrie did it on Sex and the City, and it was a complete foreshadowing of her eventual marriage break up with Aidan.

(lovely show it is :))

But if you really want to make a statement, wear it around your...

Never mind.

I think it would be a little weird yeah. Unless his fingers are deformed in some way, I would by all means prefer it on his hand. You get used to wearing the ring... "hates wearing rings" is not an excuse.

Ok, say you were married to this guy. Instead of wearing his wedding ring on his ring finger, he said he wanted to wear it on a chain around his neck instead. He might also throw in some corny thing like, "so it will always be close to my heart"

Would that bother you?

This is what Carrie Bradshaw says in Sex And The City - Season 4 :)

I almost never wear my wedding ring; just occasionally when we go out for dinner or whatever on special occasions like our anniversary, mother's day, etc. I hate wearing rings, watches, etc. and fortunately the lack of a ring on my finger doesn't bother my wife. She wears her ring more than I do but it's not on her finger constantly either.

My wife has a $50 wedding band we bought after returning from Vegas. I've offered to buy her a diamond ring, but she doesn't want one. That cheap wedding band is her symbol. My symbol is that I don't mess around. She is all I need. Helluva woman.

I would be leary of any woman who is hung up on symbolism.

Just my thoughts.

Peace.

She sounds like a terrible wife. Divorce her ... then tell her to call me ;)

Not worth fighting about. But, if she's ok w/ it then cool, but I'd have an excuse handy besides the symbol crap. Like you are a mechanic and can't wear it while working or you work w/ electronics a lot and it's a hazzard, etc. But that you'll wear it at other times. (If this is the case you'll probably end up loosing it, but, such is life).

Anyway, if you leave it on, After a few weeks you'll get used to it. After a few months it'll feel funny NOT wearing it.

Of course, get a nice fitting ring, that'll make getting used to it easier. In fact, buy it from a jewelry store with a repairshop on-site. Get the plan that will allow them to resize it as often as you need it resized. (Usually the plan covers cleanings as well).

That way if it gets dirty, feels funny, you get fat/skinny, etc, you can have them adjust it.

That'd suck when you got divorced.

Huh? There are only five females at this forum? Are they all the first five respondents in this thread? Why are the first five respondents male, as it seems?

All right . . . on a more serious note: Beast1284, didn't you say long time ago that you were 19 years old? I suppose you would be 20 now. You mean you got married at age 19/20? :Q That would explain a lot. An older man I suppose wouldn't be posing this type of question, except of course if he's a playboy. So, the answer is no I wouldn't like it. I would much rather he didn't bother wearing it at all. Hanging it on his neck would make it seem as though he were ashamed to show that he were married. Remember, on the fingers, there's a particular spot for married people. The ring doesn't go just anywhere. A particular finger symbolises marriage. So, I wouldn't trust any man who refused to wear it but opted to have it on his chain.

It would make my relationship feel as though it's some dog I'm married to. If you don't want it, then don't wear it. Maybe frankly you really aren't even ready for marriage since you're pretty young and asking this question too. It seems timid to do stuff like attach the ring to the chain.

Maybe a nose ring would work? Coudl go in one nostril and out the other like those people you see in National Geographics all the time. THen everyone is SURE to see it.

Have you actually tried leaving it on for a couple of weeks?

I never wore a ring until I got married and it felt weird when I first put it on.
But after a couple of weeks I got used to it. Now I never even notice it.

Having it around your neck, it's a lot more likely to get lost.

I liked how you said when, not if.

1. If you start wearing it, after about a month, it'll feel really weird *NOT* to have it on your finger...

2. You don't "forget" to have your ring on, you just plain don't take it off, with the exception of some sort of work where it poses a danger (powertools that love to grab rings and rip fingers off). Washing dishes is NOT bad for diamonds or gold. (but bad for softer stones such as opals- remove opal jewelry before dishwashing)

3. About women hitting on men with a ring on their finger
a) more of a challenge?? (a female told me this once, but I don't know... females, do you agree??)
b) safer. Ring means married... probably a lower chance of std, and if you're looking for a discreet relationship, who's going to be more discreet than someone else who's married?

4. The tattoo thing.... A ring is close, especially in the summertime! Unless you take your ring off whenever you're in the sun, you end up with a tan line where the ring is.

the wife went a few months while not wearing hers. she had lost weight so it would fall off. i did not think anything of it. depends on the person...if he/she is/was a player than hell no..

Wedding bands can be an invitation to horny people though..it means no strings attached sex, plus chances are that the person is STD free...
