Does the US government offer insurance (medical/car/etc.?) for you and your family (or at least you and your spouse)?

If so, what types, and what amount of coverage is provided?

Does the insurance plan available to you change according to your rank/experience/etc.?

Any and all info would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I don't know about the modern military, but during The Civil War when I was in, the answer would be yes, and everything was covered.

The military medical plan is called Tricare, and there are varying degrees of coverage for dependents (obviously, military members are fully covered for all procedures). You might try this website for information. I did find another address, www.tricare.osd.mil, but it didn't seem to work for me.

Anyway, look around for information under Tricare and that should answer all your questions.
