Question for those that shave using safety razors. How often do you nick yourself?

Being 1/2 Asian my facial hair grows at a snails pace. 1 1/2 weeks worth of growth = about 2 days for most Caucasian guys. But I like growing it out a bit. I usually grow it out for 2 weeks then shave it off then grow it out for 2 weeks. What I really need is an electric razor to keep the course stubble look.

Anyway since I don't shave that often and wait till I have more than stubble when I do shave I tend to nick myself each time once or every other time.

So when you shave how often do you end up nicking yourself. Not talking about really serious deep cut here just so long as it bleeds.

maybe every 2-3 shaves. Usually only on my neck though and I shower right after so it's not a problem for me.

White guy, moderate growth speed, shaving daily in the shower with a Mach 3 Turbo.

I nick myself less than once a month, usually when I'm a bit sleepier than normal or if I use the cartridge a little too long and it's dull.

You know I actually have thought of trying out a straight razor. And I have often used the cheap disposable razors.

You know I actually have thought of trying out a straight razor. And I have often used the cheap disposable razors.

I highly recommend a straight razor. As long as you aren't hopelessly clumsy, it gives a great shave, and you never run out of razor. I bought a strop, and straight razor(like new) for $32 from an antique shop over 20 years ago, and they're still going strong. My straight razor blade has a crack in it(my kittiots knocked it of the counter), and it'll grab a hair on occasion, but otherwise, it works fine.

I give myself a nasty cut every 5 or so shaves. The cuts don't hurt as much as the styptic pencil, though.

Ouch. You cut easy? 😉

Like I say I nick myself all the time but have yet to get a nasty cut. Like someone else here said I go have a shower/bath right after so the bleeding takes care of itself there.
