I've been snowboarding for that past few years, and feel it's about time I bought my own snowboard. The last few times i've rented, the length of the boards were around 154-156cm.

If I bought a 151cm board, is there a real noticeable difference from the 154cm length?

Well, what is your height?

But regardless, from personal experience, I doubt you could feel a difference with a 154cm board. It will feel a little different but that happens with any new boad.... as long as it isn't ridiculously off from your height it should be fine.

It depends on what you want to do.

If you ride freestyle then you'll find it easier to do tricks on a shorter boards since its easier to swing around with.

If you're just a freerider, which is basically all-mountain... then you might find a longer board more suited for you.

I'm 5'9" and ride a 162 :Q :D ...some carving here and there and thats basically it.

How much do you weight BTW?

Thanks for the response. I'm 5'8'', 115lbs. Yes I know, I'm a beanpole.

I figure it won't make much of a difference, but I just want to be sure. This is a big purchase for me :) Don't want to end up buying another board next year.

snowboard size is based on weight, not height!

depends what you want to do...

rails/tricks, get a shorter board. all-mountain/freeride, get a longer board

Well I'm heavier than you but shorter... a 151cm would seem like a good fit IMO... I wouldn't have qualms buying it, just get it and go out and have some fun!!!

I don't do any tricks/rails. I'm nowhere near good enough to do those. I'll probably look around some more, and if I have trouble finding another size, i'll go with the 151cm. Thanks for the help everyone!

I can't wait until the season starts. :D

well there are like 3 types i think, ones for half pipes, medium size/width for general use, and long thin for carving.

Well, I don't do much freestyling/halfpipe/rails. I'm not quite that good, yet. At this point, all I do freeride, which is why i'm somewhat worried about getting a shorter board. But then again, it's 3cm...I just don't think that makes much of a difference.

Don't be too paranoid about getting a board the right length. At only 5'7 or 5'8 (I need to measure myself) i'm doing a 151'. Just as long as it isn't dramatically longer.
