Question for runners on ATOT

So I play basketball and other sports fine...but when I decide to run on a treadmill at my gym when it's raining outside, a weird thing happens. As I breathe, especially if it's through my mouth, as I inhale, it sounds like I'm gasping for air, like raspy gasping...and it feels like my windpipe is closing up. I don't stop, I keep running...and it goes away...then comes back a while later. Now, I'm not saying I don't get any air....honestly it's more like a feeling than anything else, cause I'm definetly getting enough air, even when this sensation is persisting...

I get this sometimes but it's due to acid reflux. If I'm taking care of my diet I don't usually experience it unless I'm really going just about as fast as I can for a long period of time.

Are you one of those guys on the treadmill next to me who sounds like you're having an asthma attack the whole time you're running?

If it's really worrying you get tested for asthma.

Well it's not the whole time that I'm running....it's just occasionally...I ran today and it didn't happen at all.

Beat me to it, that sounds exactly like what it is. Go to your doctor OP and he will treat you accordingly.

If it only happens inside, it's probably due to the dryness of the air. I can race fine outside, but during indoor track I get the same problems. Try chewing a piece of gum which will stimulate saliva production and keep your throat moistened.

hmm thanks for the ideas....I'll try that gum thing next time, and if it persists I'll see what a doc says
