Question for religious people

When you compare any of the major religions, certain contradictions are gong to arise. For example, if you ask a muslim if jesus christ is the son of god, they're going to say no. Prophet of god? Maybe. Son of god? Definately not.

So in these contradictions, do you believe that your religion is right and others are wrong, or they're both right somehow, or something else?

I'm not trying to start a flame war here though I can see it might turn out that way. I'm actually genuinly interested in what religious people have to say about this.

Obviously you have to have faith that yours is right and the others are wrong. Religion requires faith. Without faith there can be no religion as you can't prove god.

i was brought up in church(southern baptists). my parents go every weekend. i hardly ever go now that i'm on my own. i know right from wrong. i used to go back and fourth but lately i've just burnt out on it. i don't tend to think someone is an idiot for other beliefs or that they are wrong. to each their own imo.

i have tons of catholic and methodists friends. i tend no to tie my religion with friends. i don't venture into religion threads here on atot for the very sole reason of being flamed. i just stay away and keep my opinions to myself.

there are christians who think athiests people are morons and there are athiests people who think christians are morons. the way i look at it, believe want you want, i won't try and convince you otherwise. i'm not going to be a burden to anyone who doesn't want to hear it.

it's not as simple as right and wrong. Truth can be found in all religions, or outside of religion for that matter. Every single person on earth is entitled to revelation from God.

if you dont believe that what your religion says is true, then why would you be following it?

Dummest. Question. Ever.

faith does NOT mean you have to believe that other religions are "wrong".

i choose to place my faith in a specific doctrine, however, i think it is wise to try to learn something from all religions, time permitting of course.

Yup.

But I would have to add that most normal people will say that all religions are usually close to MORALLY right. In other words, that all religions point to a common morality. But other religions, not your own, being overall right, no. To believe / or place faith in one religion basically takes that away from the possibilities.

****

Oh, and stop stirring up controversy OP. :|

Something to learn maybe, but that wasn't the question. The question was can you truly belive in your god and belive that another persons god exists.

For example, if you are chrstian, do you belive in my spegetti monster?

all these different religions prove that god doesn't exist.
if there was a god, people would all believe the same thing.

I am a Christian fundamentalist, but please note that I define "fundamentalist" very differently from most people.

My definition of this word is this: I attempt to base my beliefs on the Bible alone, and not on church tradition, custom, trends, creeds, or anything else that are not taken directly from scripture. The result of this is that I very often disagree with other Christians and other "official church policies" because I believe that there are tons and tons of things that churches and Christians do and believe that are not scriptural. In other words, I think that many churches and Christians don't follow the Bible, but rather what they think is in the Bible, but is in fact rooted in something else.

So I am kind of an oddball. Non-Christians think that I'm just like every other idiot Christian that they've ever met, and Christians think that I'm some kind of radical troublemaker.

With all that preface information in mind, I believe that what I believe is mostly correct with room for constant improvement as I study and learn the Bible more, and that other religions (including what a lot of Christians are doing) are not.

That's good considering we can't even decide how we came into existance on this Earth. Something tells me your logic is a bit short-sighted.

i think what the OP is suggesting is that if someone believes in a particular doctrine, they are denouncing all others.

yeah, flame war material for sure.

Moses, and just about everyone in the Bible was Jewish.

Christians believe that Jesus is the Messiah that Jews are waiting for.
