Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
When people become conditioned to believe a certain way wash rinse and repeat becomes a way of life for everything. Strong mental sets are detrimental to learning and adapting which lead to a stick in the mud mentality. They are the root cause of resistive behaviors to change. For example, when auto manufacturers changed their designs to comply with emissions laws automobiles required the use of unleaded gas. People who've been using leaded gas complained about unleaded gas because they were classically conditioned to use leaded gas and didn't want to deviate from using it. Therefore, their resistance to using it was higher than someone who considered the variables and understood the reasoning which made changing the logical conclusion.

Another phenomena is confirmation bias where people search for evidence that matches their beliefs while ignoring any evidence to the contrary. I find this to be true of all parties but it's especially strong with religious minded people who will reject anything that they didn't hear their pastor say from the pulpit regardless if that person barely passed high school and wears a white robe with a hood after hours.

Specific problems are caused by open borders.
Throw the dog a bone and close the door. Then the anger and rage can subside long enough to focus on the good old American tradition of assimilation for those already here.

Agreed, that is what I think needs to happen, but that = amnesty. Merely mentioning that word in "R" circles gets you politically shunned. Even if an R candidate was for some very soft version of it like the dream act (which is only for children who came here with their parents) loses "R" elections. LOL. Whatever. They sowed it, now they reap it.
