question for kayakers

planning to go kayaking this weekend on a 2 man kayak. never done this before and i don't think its going to be hard since we will be doing it in a residential lagoon area. I want to know, if i am a better paddler (stronger person), should i sit in the front of the kayak? or the back?

Those tandem kayaks are so wide you shouldnt have any problems staying upright(if thats something you are afraid of). Stronger paddler dosent mean much, but id put the heavier person in back. the boat will track better that way. Ideal is to have the heavier/more experienced/stronger person in back. Easier to make course corrections from the back. Is this a sit upon or are you going to have spray skirts? If you are skirted in I would reccommend praticing a wet exit before you go out far from shore. That way if you do tip you know what to expect.

sit on the back so u can slap the person in front if theyre slackin

with the paddle?

you could do that, or i like to sit in the back because you can splash water on them when they slack. But straight up wailing on them works too.
