I run 2003 on my computer at work. Vista runs IIS 7 which doesn't play nice with the software we run.

At my office, we have AIX or Solaris on all the big servers, Various *nix distros on the smaller servers (4 nodes or less), Linux on about 1/3 of the workstations, and a mix of 2K and XP on the other 2/3 of the workstations. (many of us have 1 windows box and 1 linux box at our desks)

I'm not aware of any Vista boxes at the Datacenter in which I work.

We have a few people running Vista for testing purposes, and our conclusions were 'Absolutely no way we're using this unless SP1 is done by Merlin'

We are moving to Vista in '09 I did a costs analysis of not getting our next batch of new computers with Vista on it pre-loaded, and it was about 3000 loss if i recall correctly. I might try to push them into the next batch of 20 to have Vista so that we can be more ready when we move everyone.

We are moving to Office 07 next year, and testing on a small group within the month. I'm looking forward to all the "emergencies" we'll have when someone doesn't have the format converter installed.

I've been using Office 07 for over a year... not really impressed. The ribbon system makes everything harder to use.

We only use Vista here for testing and for product development. We do not AFAIK have plans to migrate everyone to it.

We have both Vista and Office 2007 available for anyone to install if they want, and some ppl have tried and liked Office.

I found that making things easier to use once I got used to it, I think it's nice. I guess I should have also said we are moving to exchange 2007 also. Its going to be fun next year...

All newly purchased machines are Vista, no plans to mass upgrade existing XP Pro machines to Vista unless it can handle it.

Still 99% 2000 here (with IE 5.5).

The new machines are supposed to have XP

We have no plans to move to Vista and new machines still come with XP.

We sat down and tried to find a reason to justify moving to Vista and couldn't do it. The cost of Vista itself is only about 10% of the total cost to change, with the rest coming from having to upgrade machines to handle Vista's requirements, the labor hours to install it and train users, an expected 10x increase in help desk calls and a loss of productivity. We have dozens of people who write their own code to do things and for every one of those programs that Vista breaks, something will take longer than it used to.

Down the road I think we'll lump Vista in with Windows ME when talking about OS flops. MS seems to be completely stunned by the resistance of businesses to move to Vista, when it should have been obvious there are just way too many existing apps that do not work with Vista.

250 XP
30 2K
2 Vista

We'll wait for SP1 for a full deployment, but I already hate that OS.

I don't work in IT, but our company just finally got rid of their remaining NT machines about a year or two ago. Now it's a mix of 2k and mostly XP Pro machines. When I asked about moving to XP about 2 years ago, they said what others have mentioned, that they had to be 110% sure that all the programs we run would run without trouble on a new OS. We have a lot of legacy apps (DOS) that probably wouldn't run in Vista.

With an adequate EPSS, you can significantly decrease the labor cost associated with training, as well as decrease the loss of productivity and help desk calls.

When I moved inside from the field, I was given an XP machine while everyone else in my department had Win2k. Last week, IT came around and pushed the upgrade to XP out for them. Vista is a long way off yet.

We only have one program that will not run on Windows 2000. My plan is to have everyone on XP next year, just to keep from falling too far behind. It's been this way since NT4, though.

In testing...I'd say our corporate clients will mostly switch over in the next year.
Not for profits...it'll be a while.
