question for hewlett packard owners

i went to best buy today and typed on a random hewlett packard keyboard...

holy crap, it made ABSOLUTELY no sound what so ever. i couldn't find the model of it, but it looked like a generic keyboard, black. dont think it had the multimedia functions....

can someone help me out? perhaps your hewlett packard came with it. i would appreciate it if someone could spot me the model and what not of the keyboard, thanks!

Go back to Best Buy and check on the bottom of the keyboard. Probably most of the people who see your message here won't have brand-new HP PCs.

just buy any new and good keyboard. most of them are silent. i own a relatively new hp pc (about 3 months old) and it's keyboard is quiet, but not amusing. buy a logitech or something.

We have some at work. I'll get you an answer tommorrow if I can figure out the maker.

woohoo, thanks mechBgon!

i would go back to best buy, but i am currently at my dorm room with no transportation.

the thing is, my roommate needs a new keyboard cause he likes to play WoW at 5:00 in the morning. i actually asked the manager if he could sell me that particularly keyboard since i figure he wouldn't be able to sell me a new one. he still said he couldn't sell the display model.

anyways, i am not looking for functions or anything like that since this is not for me. but i personally never use those multimedia functions anyways and find that they take up more space and would rather not have them.

the logitech keyboards are not quiet enough...their most quiet model is the 700 (forgot the whole number/letters). which is one of the most quiet keyboards on display at any retail store. (i've visited best-buy, compusa, and circuit city). but this hewlett packard, oh man...it's practically silent. it's just your average keyboard with no functions at all. even the manager was surprised as to how quiet it is.

poor guy though, he actually got the dell quiet key after i complained, but that's not all too quiet...atleast not at 5 in the morning.

I can tell you that the HP keyboard has a feather touch, so I hope that suits him. Anyway, I'll take a photo of the model so you can say "yep, that's the one" and I'll get you whatever info I can off the underside tomorrow.

Has anyone had the chance to play with a brand new HP laptop keyboard? Those are quiet, the only sound is based on how hard you press the keys; now im starting to think about modding a laptop keyboard for a pc...

lol, yes i have played with them. my best buddy just got one on black friday and it's a really sweet laptop.

Darn it, gotta charge up my batteries for my digicam. Update at 5 🙂 But I looked over the keyboard and I can't find any definitive info about who made it. 🙁 IBM Active Response is a pretty quiet one with a little firmer touch, if you want another option.
