Someone recommended a 5150 head by peavey which is great for that style of playing.

That'd be me. Honestly... I've been amazed at how many different types of music use the 5150. I can't wait for mine to come in. Stupid Kramer Stagemaster I wanted...

I like my amp but I wish I could afford other ones to supplement it

If you are looking for an amp in the 300 dollar range, go find a used spyder line 6 on ebay. I have one and its awesome for my room and recording. Though the tone comes no where near my marshall tsl 100 head, its excellent for practice/recording use.

On a side note, has anyone ran a pod xt through a tube head? Im about to do that right now but I dont know if it will sound good mixing digital and analog together.

You'll need to qweak the EQ a bit as through my Vox AC30 it comes through with way too much treble. Other than that, it works fine.
