Question for folks with Cingular plans

I called them today to cancel my service after my contract runs out on July 31. The rep told me since my billing cycle ends on the 25th of each month, I have to pay for all of August service since they won't prorate for the 6 days I have left on my contract. Either that or pay an 'early' termination fee (which is higher than my monthly payment). I guess I'm stuck with paying a 13th month anyway (there's another term in the contract that says I have to give them 30 days notice to cancel, even if the contract has ended).

I was just wondering if everyone else's billing cycle ended on the 25th of each month, since I don't see it on the contract. Thx

i believe the billing cycle is different for everybody. it depends on when you started receiving your service.

mines on the 25th of each month too, but thats bullshet that they wont prorate the 6 days, they did on mine when i had to switch plans before the billing cycle was up (it was supposed to change on the billing cycle day, but had to switch plans earlier than the day because to get promotion for a new phone line added), prorated for 3 days....also, the cancellation fee is supposed to be prorated depending on how many day you are into the contract

Hmm, that's what I figured. I think it's wrong though, it seems like it allows Cingular to make people pay one extra month of service on top of their contracts by setting the billing cycle to end a few days before the contract expires.

yeah, i think you're right about that.
it's good for you that your contract runs out though. i got tied with 2 years contract and it won't end until february 05. can't wait until this finally end.
