Question for Dog owners...

Where have you guys been buying Heartworm and flea medication? I know the vet's and stores charge a lot more than most online places. Just wondering what place has good deals and where you haven't had problems.

At first I tried 1800petmeds.com, but because they require a perscription from the vet for Heartguard and had to call my vet to get the perscription, my vet promptly called me back and offered to sell me Heartguard at the same price.
I use Advantix for flea control, and the price there was almost the same as the vet

I found that in the end it didn't really save me money due to shipping costs.

beware imitation flea and worming products...
some of the generic off the shelf items or internet brands are not as powerful or effective as the name brand items.

I have first hand experience with my 2 dogs in the matter.
buy the name brand product your veterinarian sells.

Target & Walmart sell things significantly lower than what Petco and the like do.

The Hartz flea & tick meds we give our mutt were almost 1/3 less at Target than the same thing was at Petco.

Yeah, I'm getting what my vet initially gave him which is Advantage for fleas and Heartgard Plus for heartworm.

A friends of mine's told me that the Hartz flea stuff doesn't work for anything... They have been using it just to make their dog smell better.

I get the flea stuff from ebay.. My vet, petmeds, local pet stores charge 40-50 for a 3 pack. I think I paid $28 shipped last time I bought.

1-800-Petmeds. The first time I asked, the vet tried to scare me with "counterfiet drug" stories and then proceeded to rape me me on the price. Now I get a paper prescription. Your local vets just don't have the buying power that 1-800-Petmeds does.
