Yep, our office policy is that you don't get an office unless you have 3 or more direct reports. Being a cube-monkey vs. dealing with 3 direct reports is not even close.

My office has a policy where you don't even get your own cube unless you have three direct reports. There are plenty of people in my office that earn well over $120k but still share a cube.

We went from a bldg where everyone had or shared an office to a bldg where pretty much everyone has cubes. Commish has an office, IT guy has an "office" (he located himself in the server bunker), and attys have offices for depos, that's it. Thank you pigeon infestation.
