Question For Counter-Strikers

in the original cs, there was a tutorial where you learned how to play the game... kinda like a series of training maps and instructions on how to shoot and strafe and defuse and whatnot.

does anyone know if there's a download of that or a mod or add-on for steam for that? i have a friend i'm trying to get to play it and he's like "ah, it's too much and too complicated, i'll stick to wow" and i want him to go through the tutorial and learn it slowly.

Never played the original, but anyone that's played an FPS will pick it up. Explain the whole WASD thing, and make him jump in some maps. The only way to get better at CS is to practice as much as possible.

I do. There's no functionality built into CS:Source; the best way is to find a youtube tutorial about Source.

It's not that complicated to learn... you just have to play. I think the first time played I was on dialup and went 0-20.

there was a glass map that had some walls or targets that would show where bullets were actually hitting. which for a beginner would demystify the whole variable accuracy thing with movement in cs and the difference in accuracy/range of guns.

i think cs source bullet hit decals are more accurate so its not necessary.

you really don't need a tutorial. everything important that you need to learn wouldn't be covered.

if you're a CT, get to the hostages. if you're terrorist, get to the bomb site. hit use to get hostages, plant the bomb, or defuse the bomb. controls are standard wasd. tutorial finished.

in general, just follow your team and try to kill stuff while not being killed. it's basically just team DM most of the time.

There was in cs 1.0. theres a mod to use it on steam but it seems like its broke the doors dont open sometimes 🙁.

What version is CS at now? I'm really surprised people are still playing this as well. Hell, I started back in the earlier beta versions around 1999 i think.

Is cheating still a big deal like it was back then?

i occasionally still play cs:s, but the tutorial from the retail cs was good and i wanted him to get used to it
