I wish to transfer a large file from someone elses computer to mine. What is the best way to go about this, ICQ, AIM or some other means? A cybertwinkie for the best answer :)

How large?

This really depends...

1) Create a lan with highspeed cable and transfer it that way (best)
2) Take his HD and put it in your box (only if it's like huge)
3) Use a client like AIM or something (last ditch)

Edit: This only works if you know the person and can get to his box ;)

ICQ would work fine, assuming you both have broadband.

I still go with ftp. It would be a direct connection and I have found that it has been the fastest way for me to make such transfers.

Just hook have him upload it to you over AIM, IRC, ICQ, whatever the hell you use. Let it go while you sleep and chances are it will be nearly done. I suggest using IRC, cuz it restarts where you left off just incase you guys get cut off.
